Research tells us that homework at the elementary level should be limited in scope and time in order to be most effective for our youngest learners. To match current best practice, and to reflect our beliefs and priorities, our homework will be the same as last year.
Your child reading every night is critical to his or her development as a literate person. We recommend students to read 15 minutes every night. We will be sending home leveled reading books for extra support. The Meadow Point library and local libraries are a great resource for finding leveled books for your child. Also, we will send home our math book at the beginning of the year. This will be kept at home all year. Each week, we will send an email of which pages to work on to correlate with what we are working on in class. The math pages are optional and do not need to be turned in to your child's teacher.
Homework should be practice and shouldn't get in the way of extracurricular activities, dinner, or sleep!
